Do I need the cancellation insurance?

Many people have their own annual insurance policy and will not benefit from extra cover with Hideaways. However we recommend if you are not already covered then for extra peace of mind our insurance will enable us to refund you if you are forced to cancel your holiday because of illness.

Do I need to hire linen?

All of our cottages include linen in the cost of the holiday and the beds will be made up ready for your arrival. Towels may be hired if required at £5 per person per week.

Can we bring our dog on holiday ?

We are pleased to offer you a wide selection of cottages where clients can bring along their pet dogs. As dog lovers ourselves we know how people like to walk the fells accompanied by their family pet and we are also aware of the increasing cost of kennel fees.

Do I pay extra for fuel and logs ?

Unlike other agencies we include all fuel costs in the price of your holiday.We know how annoying it is to book a holiday at a certain price, only to find lots of hidden extras such as electricity and wood.

Is this price per person ?

No ! we are pleased to say that the price you see is the total cost of your holiday, not per person !!

Do we pay extra for cleaning ?

No, each cottage is prepared for you in the morning before your arrival. We even “start you off” with essentials like toilet roll, kitchen roll,J cloths and washing up liquid and or dishwasher tablets.

Is free fishing available with all cottages ?

We are pleased to offer free fishing on Esthwaite Water with our cottages at Esthwaite farm. A permit will be issued at the office for those wanting to take advantage of this offer.

Can you guarantee good weather ?

We’re good..... but not that good. What we can offer is a warm a cosy welcome in one of our specially selected cottages. In each cottage we leave you lots of information about things to do whatever the weather as well as suggested days out from previous visitors. You are most welcome to come and see us at the office , we all live in the village and will be happy to share with you our favourite walks and activities.

What if we can’t figure out the central heating or something gets broken ?

Don’t worry.. you will not be left on your own.A full information pack is in each cottage which will tell you everything you need to know. Whichever cottage you choose you are never more than 3 miles from our office in Hawkshead, where help is at hand to sort out any niggles and we man our phones round the clock to help if required... no call centres !!!

Where will I collect the keys and directions to the cottage ?

Upon receipt of your final payment we will send you full instructions regarding keys and directions as well as information on what you have to bring.

Can I pre order groceries ?

We can organise groceries from our village shop to be in the cottage when you arrive. We give you the phone number on your final letter and ask you to ring Maureen and Annie the shop keeper with your order. Our cleaners will be happy to unpack food items and pop them in the fridge for you.
